Sirino has been one of Sundowns key figures in the early stages of the season, having scored in each of their four competitions contested thus far this season, and perhaps more so in the Telkom Knockout where he has already scored four goals in their two games thus far.
The 28-year-old Uruguayan, however, could face a lengthy spell on the side-lines, pending the outcome of his Disciplinary hearing over charges of misconduct relating to an incident during Sundowns’ MTN8 semi-final second leg against SuperSport United in September.
While Mosimane is a firm believer in the quality and ability of the diminutive attacker, the coach feels one concerning aspect he needs to overcome is learning to better control his on-field emotions and behaviour.
“Gaston is our biggest influence; all he needs to manage is his temperament. Like, the game against Highlands Park [last month], I had to warn him that, ‘You’re going to have all those follow-through and late tackles after you’ve released the ball,’” explained Mosimane.
“And, not tackles that are bad for red cards or whatever, but it’s one of those hard games and I had to call him to say, ‘You must understand, these are games where such things happen.’”
Sirino has since missed his side’s last two fixtures due to an ankle injury, with the PSL prosecutor expected to confirm his sanction in the coming days.
